It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
It’s Football Season and Hoyt’s Here!
September is an exciting time in New York!
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
New York City for the Holidays is a destination for travelers all over the world. Here in Fairfield County and Westchester, we’re lucky to have the proximity of all Manhattan has to offer, especially this time of year. From the Macy’s Day Parade to New Year’s Eve in Times Square and everything in between, Hoyt can make your trip even more enjoyable.
Get around without the hassle of parking and traffic, add dinner or a hotel stay while you travel in style, and Hoyt can make your trip a special holiday event to remember for a lifetime.
Here are some of Hoyt’s favorite picks for the holidays in New York City.
- The Big Balloon Inflation: On Thanksgiving Eve from 3pm to 10pm, thousands walk Central Park West as Macy’s inflates the balloons and makes final preparations for the big parade
- The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: To get a good viewing spot along the parade route, viewers start lining up around 6:30 am. Note: This year the parade will take a new route (for the first time in 82 years.) Visit the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade site to see the new route.
- The Lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree: This year the lighting will take place on December 2nd. Entertainment begins at 6:45, with the lighting at 8:55. Skating at the rink throughout the winter, and a performance of The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular are also traditional favorites.
- The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center: Tschaikovsky's musical masterpiece and George Balanchine’s choreography. The dancing children, mice and sweets, and of course, the growing tree — this classic becomes more beloved every year.
- An Evening Tour of the Lights and Windows: Saks 5th Avenue, Lord & Taylor’s, Macy’s, the Angels and Tree at Rockefeller Center—it seems every foot of Manhattan is lit up to put on a spectacular show in December, and a ride from Hoyt makes it particularly personal and comfortable.
- Shopping! People from around the world shop the city for the holidays because it doesn’t get better than Manhattan for gifts (or yourself).
- Broadway: Whether a treat for the family or a night out for two, with the wealth of extraordinary shows on Broadway today (Wicked, In the Heights, West Side Story, Mary Poppins, Bye Bye Birdie, The Lion King and so many more) the holidays are a perfect time to take one in.
- The Seasonal Music of New York: The 50th Anniversary of Lincoln Center, home of the Metropolitan Opera, Il Divo’s Jingle Ball at the Beacon Ballroom, and the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the musical treats are too many to mention but no where on earth is the music of the season better.
- The Holiday Train Show at The New York Botanical Gardens: Miniature trains pass through festively lit historic landmarks of New York in miniature, made from all natural materials, and the 250 acres of the Botanical Gardens are illuminated in the spirit. Running from November 21st to January 10th, this is a wonderful destination for children of all ages.
- New Year’s Eve in Times Square: According to organizers, an estimated one million people attend the ball dropping at the stroke of midnight in Times Square as billions watch worldwide. It’s truly the biggest party in the world, so you need to get there early and be prepared for the security, have fun, and let Hoyt take you safely home.
Whether you’re going to a holiday performance, office party or charity event, or planning a day of shopping, lunch or dinner, a hansom cab ride, or a hotel stay – enjoy a comfortable, cheerful ride with Hoyt who will get you safely there and back without the hassle of dealing with traffic and parking.
